Thoracic Disc Herniation and Stenosis
摘要
Thoracic disc herniation is an uncommon spine condition due to the unique anatomy of the thoracic vertebrae. It can be asymptomatic or produce back pain, radiculopathy or myelopathy. Conservative treatment is the first-line treatment in cases without progressive neurological symptoms. Surgery is considered in cases with neurological compromise or after the failure of conservative treatment. Different surgical techniques have been developed and the surgical technique is primarily based on the location of the herniation within the spinal canal as well as the presence of calcification.
