The Hand and Upper Limb in Tetraplegia

In case of neurologically stabilized tetraplegia, it is possible to restore an elementary grip function by tendon transfer. The surgical program depends directly on the neurological level of the patient and must respect a precise chronological order: The indications of the muscles to be transferred are now well-codified, but new techniques of nerve transfers performed earlier are being developed and evaluated.
