Glimpses of the Greek ‘Me Too’ Movement on Facebook: Tracking Digital Interactivity and the Quest for Equity and Empowerment

摘要

In this chapter I focus on two rape-cases from the ‘Greek-MeToo’ movement, as approached and projected digitally by activists and users through Social Media interactions. Through the lens of content analysis, I examine the dynamics and the impact that users obtain on the web, with a focus to options for further development of digital social bonding. I monitor the transactions and the contents of posts of some Facebook users, with the analysis focusing particularly on interactions prompted by two notorious ‘MeToo’ incidents in Greece. The aim is to explore the extent to which lasting and effective forms of sociality and of activist engagement can accrue on digital-virtual spaces and be successfully achievable
