It is well recognized that a kidney transplant is the best treatment option for many people with kidney failure. The role of the specialist nurse is key to facilitating the process from early referral to long-term follow-up. Knowledge of the barriers, assessment process, risks, benefits, and outcomes facilitates healthcare providers to support those who would benefit from a kidney transplant.
