Osteotomy: Patient Evaluation and Indications
摘要
Osteotomy around the knee continues to increase in popularity around the world, as further literature shows favorable long-term outcomes with techniques becoming more reproducible. It is commonly associated with the management of unicompartmental arthritis with mechanical axis deviation. However, this is not the only proven use for this procedure and in an appropriately selected patient can be utilized to protect joint restoration procedures or improve symptoms associated with chronic instability. Execution of the procedure is only part of the process. A carefully assessed and motivated patient that is fully informed as to the goals and outcomes of the procedure is the key to success.
