摘要
The retina is a neural tissue internally coupled inside ocular structures and encompasses the vitreous body. The retinal cells exert functions as phototransduction, processing the visual information and carrying the neuronal signs up to the central nervous system. The retinal cells’ topography is in accordance with the visual field, promoting the sensorial experience. A rich vascular system provides the irrigation of this demanding tissue, which is protected by a barrier against the penetration of circulating macromolecules.
