摘要

Visual field examination is a cornerstone in ophthalmology for evaluating the range and functionality of vision. Traditional methods, such as manual and computerized perimetry, are widely utilized to measure visual field sensitivity, playing a critical role in the diagnosis and monitoring of conditions like glaucoma. Among these, the Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer, particularly the 10-2 strategy, offers a refined assessment of central visual function by focusing on macular areas with a higher density of tested points, making it especially effective for the early detection of diseases. Microperimetry (MP) takes visual field assessment to the next level by combining perimetry with retinal imaging, enabling precise mapping of functional deficits directly onto retinal structures. Advanced devices like the MP-3 incorporate eye-tracking technology, ensuring accuracy even in patients with unstable fixation. MP also allows for tailored testing protocols, minimizing patient fatigue and enhancing reliability. Moreover, its ability to perform longitudinal assessments provides valuable insights into disease progression and treatment efficacy. Microperimetry has a wide range of clinical applications, particularly in macular diseases such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic macular edema (DME), epiretinal membranes, and macular holes. In AMD, MP effectively identifies scotomas and correlates retinal sensitivity with structural changes. For DME, it complements OCT findings by assessing functional deficits. In cases of macular holes and epiretinal membranes, MP aids in predicting visual outcomes and provides a deeper understanding of disease mechanisms. Compared to conventional perimetry, microperimetry offers several key advantages, including direct retinal mapping, integrated eye-tracking technology, customizable testing protocols, dynamic retinal analysis, and the ability to detect subtle functional changes. These features position microperimetry as a superior diagnostic and management tool for retinal and macular conditions, offering unmatched precision and insight into patient care.
