Economics and Zero-Carbon

Several agreements in the last decade have established the urgent need to intensify the efforts toward “net zero” carbon emissions. Globally, more than 80% of greenhouse gas emissions and economies are linked with net-zero targets. To achieve that, international collaboration and robust frameworks are needed that consider all factors from a socioeconomic, political, technological, institutional, and environmental perspective. This chapter considers these factors within a framework suggested by WRI. At the end the chapter proposes a framework to evaluate economic opportunities and challenges in the road toward global net-zero goals.
