Global Landscape Governance on the 20th Anniversary of the European Landscape Convention

  • Amy Strecker

摘要

This chapter argues that reflecting on the continuity of the European landscape requires us to look beyond the European Landscape Convention as a legal instrument, and the borders of Europe, as a region. This is because the challenges facing European landscapes are increasingly global in nature, and the continuity of the European landscape is inextricably tied up with the wider world we inhabit. The chapter highlights the contradictory role played by international law in landscape governance and explores some of the legal obstacles to, and potential avenues for, achieving spatial justice.
