摘要

This chapter provides an overview of the contributions of Richard Stanley Peters in the field of philosophy of education. He was one of the early thinkers, philosophers, and revolutionaries in the field of education. Peters is well known as the founding father of the analytic approach of education in Britain and the United States in the second half of the twentieth century. When he began his outstanding work in reviving the philosophy of education, the field was not a growth area. He succeeded in creating a vivid portrait of philosophy of education as an unquestionably logical solid discipline. Peters’ career was guided by his free thinking, efforts, and consistency to enrich intellectual life and contribute to the life of the philosophy of education society. His remarkable contributions in the field of philosophy of education remain unparalleled. Numerous scholars and teachers have adopted his work to develop new insights about the purpose of education. This chapter captures the evolution of his analytic approach, focusing on his journey as well as the key contribution to his oeuvre.
