摘要

Breaking through stereotypical gender and traditional expectations for women in a world dominated by males, Maria Montessori stayed true to her passion of wanting more for herself. She overcame obstacles before her, attended technical and medical schools, and studied topics only expected of men. Montessori committed herself to advocate for the rights of all, especially promoting equalityEquality and inclusivity for women and children. Her experiences as a scientist and medical professional, combined with her determination to create educational environments that would stimulate the senses and curiosity of children, resulted in what is now known as the Montessori Method. This method recognized sensitive developmental periods in an individual’s life, respected that each learner is an individual with their own wants and needs, and focused on scientific observationScientific observation to monitor the progress and needs of learners. Along the way, Montessori became one of the most recognized names in the history of education, always believing that change was possible.
