Our existence as humans quite literally relies on planetary health and the responsible care of the earth and its resources (Chesney & Duderstadt, 2022). While the physical environment clearly shapes the well-being of individuals and communities (Pearce et al., 2010), where a person lives is often out of their control (Washington, 2020). Even further, the harmful effects of climate change and the earth’s destruction are not distributed equitably. In fact, there are significant disparities in exposure to environmental hazards, pollutants, and other toxins, with low-income communities and communities of color long bearing the greatest burden (Banzhaf et al., 2019). These forms of historical and ongoing classism and racism continue to negatively impact these populations, and experts argue that it will take radical global efforts to even begin addressing and rectifying the significant harm caused (Kantack & Paschall, 2023).

摘要
