Oral Medication
摘要
Pathological wound healing and scar formation are major medical challenges causing significant psychological and physical distress. Not only do they give rise to functional and aesthetic disadvantages, but scars can also result in a great degree of sensation disturbances. Pain and pruritus are common serious complications of scars that can have a significant impact on patients’ quality of life. Dysfunction of the nervous system and immune response will result in chronic symptoms of itchy and painful scars, which have the capacity to become increasingly complex and potentially more difficult to treat over time. Recent advances in pharmaceutical drug design and medical treatment reveal numerous preventative and therapeutic modalities to manage these chronic and disabling symptoms. In this chapter, the authors reviewed the current literature on oral pharmacological approaches to symptoms of scar neuropathy, mainly related to burn hypertrophic and keloid scars, and prevention of acne scarring.
