  • Aline Herlopian

摘要

This chapter discusses a patient with tumor-related temporal lobe epilepsy. We review the surgical approaches to the treatment for lesional, tumor-related epilepsies and their outcomes and enumerate the predictors of post-operative outcomes. We summarize the data regarding the utility of intra-operative electrocorticography during resections in tumor-related epilepsy. We discuss the necessity of ictal electroencephalographic evaluation as part of pre-surgical evaluation for tumor-related epilepsy. We review the differential diagnoses of certain lesions on neuroimaging findings and the utility of MR spectroscopy in determining the nature of these lesions. We analyze semiologies such as loss of awareness, epigastric phenomenon and peri-ictal cough. Lastly, we briefly address semiological differences between pediatric and adult patients.
