Dominant, Lesional Temporal Pole Epilepsy
摘要
The following chapter describes a patient with pharmacoresistant epilepsy due to dominant temporal pole encephalocele. We discuss the surgical decision-making process in cases of dominant lesional temporal pole epilepsy. We discuss the proposed anatomical boundaries of the temporal pole and its relationship to other cortices. Additionally, we discuss the role of the temporal pole in language and other critical cognitive functions. Moreover, we shed light on the etiologies of congenital and acquired encephaloceles and the relationship between congenital etiologies and neural tube defects. Lastly, we briefly explore the coexistence of multiple sclerosis and epilepsy.
