Non-lesional Bilateral Mesial Temporal Lobe Epilpesy

In this chapter, we present a case of pharmacoresistant bitemporal lobe epilepsy of unknown etiology. We discuss responsive neuromodulation both as a diagnostic tool and a therapeutic intervention in patients with bitemporal lobe epilepsy, the corresponding surgical outcomes and stimulation parameters. We shed light on the genetic investigation in epilepsy, particularly non-lesional bitemporal lobe epilepsy. Last, we briefly address the current literature regarding seizure forecasting, cyclic seizures, and ping-pong seizures.
