Schelling & Mythology

Schelling was fascinated by mythology, from his earliest writings to his monumental lectures on the topic. Throughout his career which spanned six decades, he sought to restore philosophical dignity to myth. The theme of mythology then affords a vantage point from which to appreciate the unity of Schellingian thoughtUnityof Schelling’s/Schellingian thought across its diverse concerns and multiple metamorphoses. To this end, this chapter provides an overview of Schelling’s philosophy of myth.
