摘要

One of the key pillars for sustainable development is education for sustainable development which is under the auspices of Quality Education, the fourth goal of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In this regard, the role of schools and its leadership is crucial in achieving the desired related outcomes. The ways education leaders implement the strategies downloaded by the government as represented by the Department of Education and the ways they innovate and reinforce these strategies is pivotal to the success of education for sustainable development. While there may be existing framework/s on education for sustainable development that serve/s as guidance for schools, there is limited information on its actual implementation, as well as the viewpoint of education leaders from rural public schools. This paper presents the perceived knowledge of and ideas about education for sustainable development, the perceived association of education with sustainable development, and enactments of education for sustainable development leadership of school leaders in Biliran Province, the Philippines. The authors think that inputs from school leaders along this line are imperative to ensure that actions related thereto are locally and contextually relevant.
