Factors and Processes of Urban Slum Neighborhoods with an Emphasis on Sustainability in Iran, Middle East
摘要
Urban slums have long been a source of contention for city managers. Rapid and continual development has necessitated the adoption of policies emphasizing partial and short-term remedies. What is required is a revision of macro-management approaches and application of novel instruments. Sustainable foresight is a rather new concept that refers to a process which results in long-term activities. The purpose of this study is to establish the exclusive factors and processes of urban slum beds and to examine how these factors are associated. The data were analyzed using the basic applied research and environmental dynamics structural technique. The results of the data analysis revealed that 54 factors and processes in 6 domains were generated using this technique, and the distribution of variables reflected the system’s instability. Finally, 12 factors and exclusive processes have been identified as having the most impact on stabilizing the future of the Sanandaj slum bed in western Iran.
