Circular Economy: Green Materials for Construction and Buildings

Green building is a growingly important trend in the current construction and building sector, globally. Its core objective is to adopt circular economy approach in building lifecycle. This happens in multiple ways, particularly using green building materials and IoT-enabled human-in-the-loop building operations to reduce energy consumption and emissions, and thus promote sustainable development. This chapter provides an overview of green building materials with different innovative varieties being increasingly introduced to the market. The application of these materials however requires strict abidance to the regulations on green materials and green construction as discussed in the chapter.
