Applications of Nanosensors in Agriculture and Food Sectors

Applications of nanotechnology in the agricultural and food industries are becoming increasingly common. Food and agricultural industries are intimately involved in the day-to-day activities of people all over the world, and the expansion of any nation’s economy is highly dependent on the performance of these two essential industries. The cultivation of nutritious food is intimately connected to a state of good health, and nanosensors have the potential to play a significant part in the process of shielding foods from hazardous substances and safeguarding crops from pathogens. People are already benefiting from the use of nanotechnology in the areas of seed preservation, planting, the application of fertilizers, cultivating crops, packaging, and food processing quality insurance and product safety. Nanotechnology tends to meet the increased demand for food and agricultural supplies from a growing population. This is being done to accommodate the needs of a growing population. When it comes to the inspection of food, nanosensors are utilized to validate both the surface and food packaging inside the state. Electrochemical nanosensors that contain carbon nanotubes are now being developed for a variety of applications, including the detection of ions, harmful heavy metals, organic compounds, pesticides, and excessive amounts of fertilizer. In this chapter, many elements relating to nanosensors and nanobiosensors now under development are covered, and nanosensors and nanobiosensors have a considerable possibility for agricultural and food industry applications.
