Planetary Entry

All aspects of the flight mechanics of planetary entry are studied in the framework of the equation of motion. Starting out from ballistic reentry, also reentry with lift and skip reentry including phugoid mode reentry is considered in the light of heat load and peak acceleration challenges. The lifting reentry of winged bodies is given special attention fully exemplified by a Space Shuttle reentry.
