CGPS: The Canadian Galactic Plane Survey

The two basic modes of observational science echo the maxim put forward by Bernard Pagel in 1980, when he classified researchers as either “broad sweepers” or “ultimate refiners”. We describe one of the former, a 3D survey of the Gaactic plane at 21 cm.
