ARO: The Algonquin Radio Observatory

Closely overlapping the developments at the universities were major plans to create and establish ‘national facilities’ in Canada for the pursuit of radio astronomy. Canada with only a tiny population of radio astronomers managed to win funding in the late 1960s to support no few than two ‘national’ radio astronomy observatories.
