It is undeniable that the story of radio astronomy in Canada is one of cumulative success spanning over seven decades, despite more than a few serious episodes of setbacks engineered through underfunding (e.g., cancellation of both the proposed Canadian VLBA and the resurfacing of the ARO 46-m dish for millimetric wavelengths). This invited chapter examines the public face of radio astronomy in Canada.
