Transposition of Great Arteries
摘要
This chapter is a comprehensive review of transposition of the great arteries (TGA) including an overview of diagnosis and management intended for the pediatric cardiologist. This chapter will review the natural history of TGA, epidemiology, pathophysiology, surgical history, and management from fetus to adulthood. This chapter will focus on the spectrum of TGA including surgical options for TGA intact ventricular septum and TGA with associated lesions (ex. ventricular septal defect and left ventricular outflow tract obstruction). There will also be a thorough review of appropriate evaluation including fetal echocardiography for prenatal diagnosis, transthoracic echo post-delivery, management strategies including catheter interventions and surgical planning based on current guidelines. This chapter will also provide best practices for lifelong follow-up for this patient population.
