Indications for Chin Osteotomy/Genioplasty and Standard Procedures
摘要
The chin is one of the most important units of facial structures responsible for the overall appearance and esthetics of the face. Chin osteotomies are routine esthetic procedures to create a harmonious appearance of the face in terms of shape, position, and size. Generally, surgeons use the standard sliding osteotomy with anteroposterior displacement, which is used to correct both the retrusive and protrusive chin. There are many modifications, such as curved osteotomy, M-shaped osteotomy, transverse reduction osteotomy, and others. Mandibular anatomy is highly variable, as are the patient’s esthetic requirements. Therefore, the solution should be individualized in each clinical case, including the position of the chin. The 3D technologies with simulation of the covering soft tissue are suitable for simulating the desired result.
