This chapter focuses on two major issues facing industry: the ecological transition and the development of digital technology in factories. These challenges are all the more important as Western countries, and France in particular, seek to strengthen their industrial base. The chapter focuses on the French example, where industrial sites are also suffering from underinvestment in factories as a result of deindustrialization.
