Psychoeducation in the Treatment of Eating Disorders
摘要
Psychoeducation is an essential component of evidence-based treatments for eating disorders. In the first half, this chapter provides a definition of psychoeducation and explores its evidence base as both a stand-alone intervention and as an integrated part of psychological therapies. It also explores potential harms of psychoeducation. The second part focuses on the practical application of psychoeducation in the therapy room. It highlights the importance of educating patients about eating disorders and provides tips for clinicians on delivering individualized psychoeducation to facilitate cognitive and behavioral changes. The chapter concludes by emphasizing the need for clinicians to develop a strong foundation of knowledge about eating disorders as a core competence in their practice.
