Conclusion to Eating Disorders: An International Comprehensive View

As this giant and possibly unique book comes to its completion, I have been considering in writing this concluding chapter how to round off the project. The approach from Springer came in 2020 and gathering a large team of 6 senior editors, 21 section editors, and 189 authors we wanted to cover the field, to introduce ideas and content from diverse societies and try and grapple with some controversial matters. The book represents a remarkable collaboration across 25 countries and 5 continents so it can truly be regarded as global. Chapters began to be published online in 2023, and as each chapter was approved for publication it was made available on the Springer website. Before publication of the paper book, the online version had received substantial attention, with 6382 accesses and 20 citations by August 2024. Because it is a Springer Living reference work, as new information is published in journals, the online chapters can be updated so that it continues to be up to date, a remarkable quality for a book.
