摘要

This chapter explores autobiographical memory (AM), the repository of personally experienced events, and details unique to an individual. AM plays a pivotal role in cognitive processes, influencing emotional regulation, relationship satisfaction, and problem-solving abilities. It emerges gradually across childhood and adolescence, supported by the development of a coherent self-concept over time. The chapter begins by examining the organization and structure of AM, with a focus on its functioning within social and cultural frameworks. It also addresses the effects of AM retrieval disruptions on psychological well-being, particularly their association with depression. Intervention protocols grounded in AM research are reviewed to highlight therapeutic approaches. Finally, the chapter surveys recent advances in the measurement and analysis of AM content, offering insights into innovative methodologies that enhance our understanding of this fundamental cognitive system.
