Capital Market Masterplan (Malaysia)

This entry examines the evolution and implementation of the capital market masterplans in Malaysia, drafted in pursuit of regulating the capital markets with a view to maintain economic and financial stability and sustainability. The masterplans were introduced as novel arrangements and instruments by policymakers in response to the economic crises in Malaysia in late 1990s as a solution that would ensure rapid and effective attention to any potential collapse in the financial and capital markets. The masterplans, introduced in conjunction with the complementary economic and financial policies, involved some instruments and products of the Islamic finance and economics as well.
