Secularism
摘要
Secularization is a sociological phenomenon that investigates the diminishing practical and institutional significance of religion in a society as a result of modernization. Secularization theories, however, offer a framework to understanding development in contemporary communities. This entry includes an investigation of notions such as secular, secularism, and secularization, followed by an explanation of the classical secularization theory. Classical secularization hypothesis posits that when cultures undergo modernization, they tend to become more secular. This text explores the cultural context of economics as an institution, following the macro-meso-micro paradigm of social, institutional, and individual secularization proposed by Dobbelaer, a prominent thinker of the classical thesis. The process of secularization, resulting from modernization, is significant in the context of the interaction between Islam and the removal of religious values from institutional and cultural entities that have traditionally included them and have adjusted their economic stance accordingly.
