Money market funds, which originated in the 1970s, have likewise been influenced by similar trends. Currently, money market funds encompass noninterest-bearing financial instruments, including participation accounts and sukuk, alongside interest-bearing money and capital market instruments. Interest-free money market funds that adhere to Islamic principles are also available. This study assesses money market funds within an Islamic framework. This context first elucidates money market funds, followed by an analysis of money and capital market products within these funds, including sukuk, an Islamic money market fund instrument.
