The Islamic Research and Training Institute was created under the framework of the Islamic Development Bank Group. Its primary objective is to generate and distribute knowledge pertaining to Islamic economics and finance, with the aim of fostering the sustainable development of Islamic nations. The institute is additionally responsible for the promotion of Islamic finance, with its objective being the undertaking of research to ensure that economic, financial, and banking transactions in Islamic nations adhere to Sharia’ principles. Furthermore, it aims to enhance the training of personnel engaged in development endeavors within the member countries of the bank. One of its fundamental responsibilities encompasses the organization and coordination of fundamental applied research pertaining to the implementation of Sharia principles in the domains of economics, finance, and banking. Additionally, it undertakes the task of providing training and enhancing the proficiency of professionals in the realm of Islamic economics. Moreover, it trains personnel engaged in developmental endeavors within the member countries of the bank. Lastly, it assumes the responsibility of gathering, organizing, and disseminating information pertaining to its areas of operation. As of April 24, 2021, the institution’s name has been modified to the Islamic Development Bank Institute.
