Corruption

Corruption, defined as the abuse of entrusted power, has devastating effects on both economic and social life. Extensive research has demonstrated its negative impact on economic development, inequality, poverty, social trust, and welfare. Therefore, it is crucial that it be taken seriously and not allowed to become widespread. The problem’s origins are attributed to a variety of factors, including social, economic, political, cultural, and institutional influences. In this study, the handling of corruption in economic literature and its consequences are discussed. The issue of corruption within Islamic frameworks is then examined. The approach falls within the framework of prohibitions designed to shape general life. Islamic economics views corruption as an event that goes against moral values and threatens the social and economic order. Thus, it can be stated that Islam does not conform to the standard definition of corruption and establishes its own standards. This encompasses any conduct that diminishes social confidence, subverts justice, generates injustice, and damages society.
