Marine environment offers a vast array of metabolites and biomacromolecules with unique chemical structures and diverse biological functions. These compounds have demonstrated substantial promise in cancer therapy, showcasing a high ability to interact with biological targets related to cancer development. The identification and development of marine natural products (MNPs) have led to the approval of several compounds for clinical use in cancer treatment. The potential of marine-derived components is further extended to the realm of drug delivery systems, where MNPs hold promise for controlled and specific drug delivery. Moreover, the integration of 3D bioprinting technology with marine-derived biomaterials provides advanced in vitro tumor models, offering a more accurate representation of physiological conditions for drug screening and research purposes. Their continuous exploration for cancer therapy underscores the potential to address the limitations of synthetic drugs, offering environmentally friendly and effective alternatives in the ongoing quest for innovative and targeted cancer treatments.
