Fluid flow may vary from point to point and, at a given point, may vary from one instant of time to another. The fluid motion is defined as uniform flowUniform flow when the velocity, at a given time, is identical in magnitude and direction at any location within the fluid. If, at the given time, velocity varies from point to point, the motion is described as non-uniform flowUniform flow. When the fluid properties at a given point do not change with time, the motion is considered as steady flowSteady flow: quantities such as velocity, pressure and cross-sectional area of the stream of fluid may vary from point to point but remain constant as time changes, whereas they change with time in an unsteady flow.
