Child and Adolescent Mindfulness Measure (CAMM) in International Contexts
摘要
This chapter provides an examination of the 10-item Child and Adolescent Mindfulness Measure (CAMM) within a global context. While several tools for assessing mindfulness in adults exist, children require a specifically tailored measure that is both valid and comprehensible. The development of such measures is crucial for two key reasons. Firstly, it aids in understanding the role of mindfulness skills in children and adolescents. Secondly, it assists in identifying the mechanisms of change and the effects of mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs), which have experienced rapid growth in recent years. This chapter offers an outline of the development of the original English version of the CAMM, along with psychometric evaluations of translations in other languages. As with the original version, these translations exhibit strong psychometric properties of this unidimensional measure, making them suitable for use in different linguistic and cultural contexts. By emphasizing the international applicability of the CAMM, this chapter demonstrates its value as a concise, user-friendly, reliable, and valid instrument for assessing mindfulness in various stages of childhood. The measure’s adaptability across different countries, languages, genders, socioeconomic statuses, and cultural backgrounds underscores its significance in the field of behavioral health assessment on a global scale.
