摘要

Abnormalities of the lymphoid system include both benign and malignant etiologies. Reactive lymphadenopathy is common in children and the challenge of initial imaging is to distinguish between benign and malignant lymph node enlargement [1]. Clinically, lymphadenitis is often painful and tender with focal lymph node involvement, and often presents in association with regional or systemic infection. Typically, lymphadenitis does not require imaging [2]. However, progressively enlarging lymph nodes, or lymph nodes that do not respond to appropriate antimicrobial therapy may warrant further evaluation for potential malignancy.
