Noninvasive Ventilatory Support in the Medically Complex Patient
摘要
Significant advances in pediatric noninvasive ventilation (NIV) over the past few decades have allowed more children to benefit from outpatient chronic ventilatory support. This includes children with different types of upper airway obstruction and respiratory insufficiency. There are distinct challenges in recognizing when to start chronic respiratory support and how to monitor efficacy and safety of the treatment in the pediatric population. The evidence behind the initiation, equipment selection, monitoring, and strategies for treatment adherence to NIV will be discussed in this chapter.
