Multidisciplinary Evaluation of Severe and Difficult to Control Asthma

This chapter addresses the concept of aerodigestive approach to severe uncontrolled asthma (SUA). It discusses complicating factors such as esophagitis and suppurative lower airway disease and gives the overview of lower airway and esophageal inflammation. It introduces the concept of “aerodigestive eosinophilia” and provides practical advice for management of SUA via personalized treatment plans.
