Acute Quadriceps Tendon Repair

Quadriceps tendon rupture is a relatively uncommon injury; however, these injuries can be significantly debilitating and require prompt identification and treatment by orthopedic surgeons. In this chapter, we have described the mechanism of these injuries along with the function of the native quadriceps tendon. We have also detailed both nonsurgical and surgical management comparing several techniques along with their respective outcomes. While surgical approach and technique may vary, postoperative rehabilitation and recovery is essential to the success of recovery from this injury. While these can be a debilitating problem if left untreated, there are many options available for the treating orthopedic surgeon.
