  • Yaser Mohammed Al-Worafi

摘要

The management of common diseases and conditions during pregnancy in developing countries is a critical component of maternal and child healthcare. This chapter explores the prevalence, morbidity, and mortality of common diseases and conditions during pregnancy in these regions, shedding light on the clinical, economic, and humanistic burdens they impose. Additionally, it addresses the causes, risk factors, complications, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and management of these conditions, emphasizing the goals of therapy and desired outcomes. Non-pharmacological and pharmacological therapies, monitoring parameters, and evaluation of therapeutic outcomes are discussed, along with strategies to treat modifiable causes and risk factors, as well as complications. The achievements in the management of these conditions include improved access to prenatal care, early detection, community-based health programs, and the integration of technology in healthcare delivery. However, challenges persist, such as limited access to quality healthcare, resource constraints, and socioeconomic disparities, highlighting the need for a comprehensive approach to address these issues. The emergence of online management strategies, guidelines, and educational resources offers promising solutions to bridge gaps in healthcare access and education. Telemedicine, mobile health apps, and online educational platforms provide innovative ways to reach pregnant individuals, especially in remote areas. Guidelines and resources from organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF serve as valuable references for healthcare providers and pregnant individuals alike. To further enhance the management of common diseases and conditions during pregnancy in developing countries, a holistic approach is recommended. This involves improving access to care, expanding education and awareness initiatives, advocating for policy changes, and fostering collaborations among stakeholders. Empowering pregnant individuals with knowledge, choice, and access to healthcare services is central to achieving better maternal and fetal outcomes and building healthier communities.
