Nursing Education, Practice, and Research in China

In China, both undergraduate and graduate nursing programs are available. Nursing faculty handles all nursing science professional course teaching, advising nursing students’ research, and major-related campus and social activities. A distinctive aspect of nursing education is that the first 3 years of study are spent primarily in the classroom, with clinical practice taking place after theory lectures. The last year of the program typically consists of a full year of clinical internships that rotate across every hospital department. A charge nurse is designated to manage the standard of nursing care in nursing units. A written exam and an individual skill test are traditionally part of the nursing examination structure. The National Nursing Licensure Examination is required for registration. Numerous employment options are available in the nursing sector. Research activities are also continuously going on in China. Considering the population of China, the number of available nurses is not enough. Issues related to nursing education should be resolved to allow more students to select nursing education as their profession. It will decrease the workload of the charge nurses, and their working efficiency will increase.
