Dentistry Education, Practice, and Research in Lebanon
摘要
Dental education in Lebanon is delivered by three universities, one public and two private, through multiple programs and teaching languages, in the absence of a national competency framework for dentistry education. Additionally, one private university offers a postgraduate training program in orthodontics without having a dentistry program. Dental education in Lebanon produces dentists with a good reputation, recognized nationally and internationally, for their knowledge, expertise, and professionalism. This high-quality dental care has attracted Lebanese expatriates and non-Lebanese to Lebanon to benefit from an excellent quality/price ratio with immediate services. The high number of dentists per capita partly explains the high level of competition and the relatively low income compared to a high cost of living in Lebanon. The continuous emergence of new knowledge and skills, and economic pressures on dental practice, compels Lebanese dental professionals to participate in CE activities to keep pace with future trends and promote their career.
