Dentistry Education, Practice, and Research in China
摘要
China is a country located in East Asia. It is the world’s most populous country with a population exceeding 1.4 billion people. Accreditation of dental education is very important for maintaining and improving dental education quality. With the development of modern dental education, more and more attention is being paid to the accreditation of dental education in China. The National Ministry of Education operates an accreditation process for all dental schools. In China, most dental school teachers are doctors in an affiliated hospital, and these doctors often graduate from the associated dental school. In recent years, several schools have explored problem-based learning (PBL)/competency-based learning (CBL) methods to alter the present teacher-centered mode and have made some improvements. However, as there is little published information on this topic, this chapter provides information about China regarding its dental history, dental school system including curriculum and dental licensure, staff, students’ admission requirements, teaching strategies, quality of education, and challenges faced by China.
