Quality of Nursing Care in Developing Countries: Status and Future Recommendations

This chapter explores the quality of nursing care in developing countries and provides an overview of its current status, achievements, challenges, and recommendations. Nursing care in developing countries faces unique challenges, including shortages of nursing staff, inadequate resources, educational limitations, weak healthcare infrastructure, and socioeconomic disparities. However, significant achievements have been made, such as increased recognition of the importance of nursing, improvements in nursing education and training, and international collaborations. To further improve nursing care, recommendations include strengthening education and training, increasing workforce capacity, enhancing healthcare infrastructure, fostering collaboration, and promoting research and evidence-based practice. Additionally, addressing socioeconomic disparities, promoting cultural competency, empowering nurses as leaders, and engaging communities and patients in care delivery are important. By implementing these recommendations, developing countries can enhance the quality of nursing care and ultimately improve health outcomes.
