Quality of Tertiary Healthcare Services in Developing Countries: Status and Future Recommendations

  • Yaser Mohammed Al-Worafi

摘要

This chapter explores the quality of tertiary healthcare services in developing countries. While challenges persist, there have been notable achievements in expanding access, developing skilled workforce, implementing quality improvement initiatives, embracing technology, and fostering collaborations. However, limited resources, infrastructure constraints, workforce shortages, and financial limitations continue to impact the quality of care. To address these challenges, recommendations are provided, including strengthening healthcare infrastructure, enhancing human resources, improving access and equity, implementing quality assurance programs, fostering research and innovation, and engaging communities. Other recommendations focus on promoting patient-centered care, strengthening health information systems, addressing social determinants of health, and fostering international collaborations. By implementing these recommendations, developing countries can strive toward higher-quality tertiary healthcare services and improved health outcomes.
