Infectious Disease Causes and Risk Factors in Developing Countries: Pediatrics

Pediatric infectious diseases in developing countries present unique challenges due to limited resources, inadequate healthcare infrastructure, and socioeconomic factors. This chapter explores the causes and risk factors associated with these diseases and provides recommendations for their prevention. Bacterial, viral, and parasitic infections contribute to the burden of pediatric infectious diseases, necessitating targeted interventions. Antimicrobial stewardship, cross-sector collaboration, disaster preparedness, cultural sensitivity, international collaboration, and research and innovation are essential components of comprehensive prevention strategies. Implementing these strategies will help reduce the burden of pediatric infectious diseases in developing countries and improve child health outcomes.
